General Aptitude · Quantitative Aptitude: Algebra, Geometry and Mensuration · 2 marks · Multiple choice

Two rectangular paper sheets M,N each measure 6 cm×1 cm. M is rolled into an open cylinder by joining its short edges. N is cut into equal square patches assembled into the largest possible closed cube. Assuming the cylinder ends are closed, find cylinder-volume/cube-volume.

Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (C) 9/π

Explanation

Joining the short edges makes circumference 6 cm and height 1 cm, so radius=3/π and cylinder volume=9/π cm³. Six 1 cm squares use the second sheet completely and form a closed cube of side 1, volume 1. Ratio **9/π, C**.
