GATE 2016 CS (CS2) – Question 16

Engineering Mathematics · Linear Algebra · 1 mark · Numerical answer

A has eigenvalues 1, 2 and 4. Find $\det((A^{-1})^T)$.

Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: 0.124 to 0.126

Explanation

The determinant is the eigenvalue product 1×2×4=8. Inversion reciprocates determinants and transposition preserves them. Thus $\det((A^{-1})^T)=1/8=0.125$, within the official 0.124–0.126 interval.
