A CRC generator is X³+X+1. The five-bit message is 11000. Find the appended three-bit check sequence c2c1c0.

Explanation

The generator bit string is 1011. Append three zeros to obtain 11000000 and divide over GF(2). XOR with the aligned divisor successively leaves 01110000,00101000,00000100. The final remainder is 100, so append those three bits. Thus C.
