GATE 2021 BM – Question 32

Signals and Systems · Discrete-Time Systems and Z Transform · 1 mark · Numerical answer

$H(s)=(1+s/10^6)/s$ is converted by a bilinear transform at sampling rate 100 MHz to H(z). At what z is its pole?

Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: 1 to 1

Explanation

The bilinear transform is s=(2/T)(z−1)/(z+1). The analog integrator pole is s=0, which maps to z−1=0 and hence z=1. The numerator does not cancel that pole; the sampling rate changes coefficients but not this mapping.
