Consider the following sentences:

(i) I woke up from sleep.

(ii) I woked up from sleep.

(iii) I was woken up from sleep.

(iv) I was wokened up from sleep.

Which of the above sentences are grammatically CORRECT?

  2. (i) and (iii)
  3. (ii) and (iii)
  4. (i) and (iv)

Correct answer: (B) (i) and (iii)

Explanation

"Woke" is the correct simple past of "wake" (so "woked" is wrong) and "woken" is its past participle (so "was woken up" is correct; "wokened" does not exist). Hence (i) and (iii) are correct.
