Ambedkar’s Annihilation of Caste distinguishes division of labour from caste’s ranked, rigid division of labourers. Caste assigns work by birth instead of trained ability or personal choice. A changing industrial economy requires people to develop their capacities and change occupations to earn a living. Which observations substantiate these arguments?

Explanation

A illustrates inherited occupational confinement and inability to adjust to economic change. B illustrates hierarchical valuation of kinds of labour. Both support the passage’s criticisms. C does not establish caste-based confinement, while D depicts the occupational mobility the author advocates rather than the restriction being criticised. Select A and B.
