A group-housing project has HIG:MIG:LIG dwelling counts 3:2:1 and average dwelling areas 100, 60, 30 m² respectively. If combined MIG+LIG built-up area to HIG built-up area is 1:x, find integer x.

Correct answer: 2 to 2

Explanation

Use proportional counts 3k, 2k, k. HIG area is 300k m²; MIG+LIG area is 120k+30k=150k m². Their ratio is 150k:300k=1:2. Thus x=2. The count ratio alone cannot be used without weighting by unit sizes.
