Correct answer: (D) vain
Explanation
**Find the relation.** In "sick → infirm → moribund" the words describe the **same condition at growing intensity**: unwell, then weak, then close to dying.
**Apply it.** In "silly → ______ → daft" the missing word must describe foolishness at an intensity between *silly* and *daft*.
- **Frown:** an expression, nothing to do with foolishness. ✗
- **Fawn:** to flatter, or a young deer. ✗
- **Vein:** a blood vessel. ✗
- **Vain:** empty, pointless or foolishly conceited, so it fits between *silly* and *daft*. ✓
Answer **vain** (D).
