A treatment plant handles 6000 m³/day. Discrete particles settle in a clarifier; a column test shows surface overflow 1.5 m/h gives desired removal. Clarifier depth is 3.0 m. Find required volume (m³), to one decimal place.

Explanation

Hourly flow is 6000/24 = 250 m³/h. Surface area is $250/1.5=166.6667$ m². Multiply by 3 m depth: **500.0 m³**.
