Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (D) 96

Explanation

The original cube has side4 units and surface area6·4²=96 square units. Each corner cube removes three exposed unit faces but reveals three previously internal unit faces. The net surface-area change per corner is zero, and the eight removals do not overlap. Thus the remaining exposed area is **96, D**.
