The reduced bearing of a 10 m long line is N30°E. The departure of the line is

  2. 8.66 m
  3. 7.52 m
  4. 5.00 m

Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (D) 5.00 m

Explanation

Departure is the east–west component, Lsinθ, when the bearing angle is measured from north. Thus departure=10sin30°=5.00m east. The10cos30°=8.66m component is latitude, not departure. Therefore **5.00m, D**.
