An FIR system has $H(z)=1+\frac72z^{-1}+\frac32z^{-2}$. Classify it.

Correct answer: (C) Mixed phase

Explanation

Multiply H(z) by z² to obtain z²+3.5z+1.5=(z+0.5)(z+3). Its zeros are−0.5inside and−3outside the unit circle. Since the zeros lie on both sides, the FIR system is **mixed phase,C**, rather than minimum or maximum phase.
