Correct answer: (B) 2.40

Explanation

The base difference is 5. Let the horizontal projections of the legs be x and 5−x,with height h. Then x²+h²=3² and (5−x)²+h²=4². Subtraction gives 25−10x=7,so x=1.8 and h=√(9−3.24)=**2.40, B**.
