Electromagnetic Fields · Biot-Savart law, Ampere law, Curl, Faraday law, Lorentz force · 2 marks · Numerical answer

An infinite surface of linear current density $\mathbf K=5\hat{\mathbf a}_x$ A/m exists on the x-y plane, as shown in the figure. The magnitude of the magnetic field intensity ($\mathbf H$) at a point (1,1,1) due to the surface current in Ampere/meter is _______ (Round off to 2 decimal places).

Correct answer: 2.49 to 2.51

Explanation

For an infinite current sheet the field magnitude is independent of distance: $H=\dfrac K2=\dfrac52=2.50$ A/m.
