Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (C) fewer / for the first time in many seasons it appears / in fact decreased / but it seems that most

Explanation

C supplies the intended contrast: Ladakh receives fewer visitors in absolute terms but, for the first time, becomes the largest destination because total tourism to India has fallen and most visitors choose Ladakh. The relative ranking can therefore rise despite a fall in the absolute count. The other combinations do not establish this contrast as directly.
