A bord-and-pillar panel has8 blasting rounds per shift, face4.2×2.5 m, average pull1.2 m, coal specific gravity1.4 and100 workers per shift. Find output per manshift in tonnes to two decimals.

Correct answer: 1.30 to 1.50
Explanation
Volume per round is4.2×2.5×1.2=12.6 m³. Shift output is8×12.6×1.4=141.12 tonnes. Divide by100 manshifts to obtain OMS=1.4112, or1.41 tonne/manshift.
