Reciprocal levelling gives staff readings(P,Q):near P,(1.512,2.100) m;near Q,(0.680,1.302) m. P’s RL is115.246 m. Find true Q RL to three decimals.

Correct answer: 113.000 to 116.000

Explanation

The two observed height differences Q−P are1.512−2.100=−0.588 m and0.680−1.302=−0.622 m. Average them to cancel the reciprocal long-sight error:−0.605 m. Therefore RLQ=115.246−0.605=114.641 m.
