GATE 2015 EC – Question 29

Control Systems · Control System Components and Feedback Principle · 1 mark · Multiple choice

Negative feedback in a closed-loop control system DOES NOT

  1. reduce the overall gain
  2. reduce bandwidth
  3. improve disturbance rejection
  4. reduce sensitivity to parameter variation

Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (B) reduce bandwidth

Explanation

Negative feedback lowers the overall gain, improves disturbance rejection and makes the system less sensitive to parameter changes. It also increases the bandwidth, so "reduce bandwidth" is the one it does not do.
