Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (D) Tanvi

Explanation

The first game is between two students of one class, and all later games are between a Class 5 and a Class 4 student. If Pavan played Tanvi in game 1, the winner would have to face Rishi or Swathi in game 2 and the other Class 5 student would then have to be played in game 3, which is a same-class game, so game 1 was Rishi against Swathi. If Swathi won it, the boys would need both of the remaining wins, but only Pavan is left among the boys and he could not play Tanvi in game 3, so Rishi won game 1. Rishi then beat Pavan in game 2 (two boys' wins in all), and in game 3 Tanvi beat Rishi, which is the girls' only win. Class 5 won 2 games and Class 4 won 1. Swathi lost game 1, Pavan lost game 2 and Rishi lost game 3, so Tanvi never lost.
