In the sequence of tiles shown below, the missing tile indicated by the question mark should be

five tiles in a row with dots. The first has 2 dots, the second has 3 dots, the third is missing, the fourth has 7 dots and the fifth has 11 dots. Below it are four options A to D showing tiles with 4 dots in the corners, 5 dots (four corners and the centre), 6 dots in two columns and 8 dots in a ring.

Correct answer: (B) Option B in the figure

Explanation

Count the dots in each tile: 2, 3, ?, 7, 11. These are the prime numbers in order, so the missing tile has 5 dots. Option B, with four corner dots and one in the centre, is the only tile with 5 dots.
