Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (D) In human beings, digestion of dairy milk resulted from a mutated gene.

Explanation

The passage says that the ability to digest milk developed along with mutations in a gene, so the ability came from a mutated gene. It does not say that all human beings can digest milk, that none can, or that digesting milk is essential.
