Which one of the following is the correct drawing of the view of the 3D object as viewed in the direction indicated by an arrow in the above figure?

a long rectangular block with a smaller block of trapezoidal cross-section on its top, and an arrow showing the viewing direction from the right-hand end. Options A to D are end views: a rectangle with a trapezoid on top (A: trapezoid at the right, with its slanted side on the left; B: with a slanted line across both blocks; C: trapezoid at the left with the slanted side on the right; D: a rectangle with only a slanted line).

Correct answer: (A) Option A in the figure

Explanation

Viewed from the end, the lower block appears as a rectangle and the upper block as a trapezoid sitting on its top surface, with no lines crossing the lower rectangle (options B and D have extra lines). The slanted face of the trapezoid is on the left in the drawing, which is option A.
