A building has several rooms and doors as shown in the top view of the building given below. The doors are closed initially.

What is the minimum number of doors that need to be opened in order to go from the point P to the point Q?

A small room in the top middle has one door on its left wall and one on its right wall. One door is in the wall between the bottom corridor and the middle-left area, and one door is in the short vertical wall between the middle-left and middle-right areas.

Correct answer: (C) 2

Explanation

From P, open the door in the wall of the bottom corridor (middle-left area). Open the door in the short vertical wall to pass into the middle-right area. From there the way up to Q is open on the right of the horizontal wall, so no more doors are needed. That is 2 doors; the route through the small top room would need 3.
