Six examinations are required to be conducted in a week starting from Sunday to Saturday. Hindi is not scheduled on the first day and English is not scheduled before Hindi. Mathematics is scheduled one day after Physics. Biology is scheduled two days after Hindi. One day prior to Chemistry, there is no examination. Only one examination can be scheduled on a single day and Sunday is not an off day.

What are the subjects scheduled on first and the last days?

  2. First day Physics, Last day Chemistry
  3. First day Physics, Last day English
  4. First day English, Last day Biology

Correct answer: (B) First day Physics, Last day Chemistry

Explanation

Number the days 1 (Sunday) to 7 (Saturday). Day 1 must be Physics (Hindi cannot be first, English comes after Hindi, Biology and Chemistry come later, and Maths follows Physics), so Maths is on day 2. Hindi on day 3, Biology on day 5, English on day 4, day 6 is off and Chemistry is on day 7 fits every condition. So the first day is Physics and the last is Chemistry.
