Which one of the given options is appropriate to fill the blank?

Correct answer: (B) obliterate

Explanation

Simmer, seethe and smoulder rise in intensity, and break, raze (flatten) and obliterate (wipe out completely) do too. “Fracture” and “fissure” are milder than razing, and “obfuscate” means to confuse.
