Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (A) exaggerates; engenders

Explanation

Someone who makes false claims about numbers is inflating them, so "exaggerates" fits the first blank. Honesty produces or gives rise to trust, which is what "engenders" means. In the other options the pairs do not make sense together: "excels" and "aggravates" do not suit numbers, and honesty does not "eliminate" or "alleviate" trust.
