Correct answer: (A) 9

Explanation

The official fold count is 9 (A). Count the fold lines needed to close the entire V-shaped solid, including the folds within the attached end pieces. Counting only the folds separating the strip panels and the two attachment edges misses folds and gives the provisional seven.
