Find the magnitude of reaction force at joint C of the hinge beam shown (kN), to two decimals.

Correct answer: 19.95 to 20.05

Explanation

Isolate span BC at its internal hinge B. The uniform load is 40 kN acting 2 m from B. Moment equilibrium about B gives RC×4=40×2, hence **RC=20.00 kN** upward. The 50 kN load on AB affects the fixed support but does not alter this isolated-span equilibrium.
