Rs 100000 is split between schemes earning 10% and 12%. Interchanging the profit percentages would reduce profit by Rs 120. Find the ratio of the original investments in the two schemes.

Correct answer: (D) 47:53

Explanation

Let the two investments be $x,y$. Then $x+y=100000$ and $0.02(y-x)=120$. Thus $y-x=6000$, giving $x=47000$, $y=53000$ and **47:53, D**.
