GATE 2023 CY – Question 33

Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: (A) $P={}^{64}_{30}Zn$; (B) $Q={}^{63}_{30}Zn$; (D) $S={}^{62}_{29}Cu$
Explanation
Conserve mass number and atomic number:60Ni28+4He2 gives 64Zn30(P). Loss of a neutron gives 63Zn30(Q); loss of two neutrons gives 62Zn30(R), not Cu. Loss of proton plus neutron gives 62Cu29(S).
Thus **A, B, D** are correct.
