A Zener diode is used as a 4 V regulator in the circuit shown. It needs minimum current 4 mA for regulation. The maximum load current through $R_L$ is ______ mA (one decimal place).

Explanation
Series current is (16−4)/1200=10 mA. Reserve the minimum 4 mA for Zener regulation; the remainder can supply the load. Maximum load current is **6.0 mA**.
