Two dice are thrown simultaneously. The probability that the product of the numbers on their top faces is a perfect square is ______.

Correct answer: (B) 2/9

Explanation

There are 36 equally likely ordered outcomes. The six equal-face pairs produce squares, as do (1,4) and (4,1). Thus $P=8/36=2/9$ (B).
