Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (D) the troposphere

Explanation

The **troposphere, D**, is the lowest atmospheric layer and contains most weather processes and much of the atmospheric mass. The stratosphere lies above it, followed by the mesosphere and thermosphere. Therefore the other listed layers are farther from the surface.
