GATE 2014 EE (EE1) – Question 34
An ideal diode bridge is fed by 230 V rms, 50 Hz sinusoidal voltage, as shown. Replace its 10 A current-source load with a resistor while keeping source rms current unchanged. Find the resistance (Ω).

Correct answer: 23 to 23
Explanation
With a10Aconstant-current DCload, the ideal bridge draws a±10Asquare current from the ACsource, whose rms value is10A. Replacing the load by Rmakes the bridge input behave resistively, so Is,rms=230/R. Equating to10gives **R=23Ω**.
