In an ideal air-standard Brayton cycle, compressor inlet is 100 kPa and 300 K. Thermal efficiency is 50%; heat addition is 1000 kJ/kg. Air has constant c_p = 1.0 kJ/(kg·K) and γ = 1.4. Find turbine-inlet temperature in K to two decimals.

Show answer and explanation Correct answer: 1595.00 to 1605.00
Explanation Ideal Brayton efficiency is $\eta=1-T_1/T_2$. Thus T₂ = 300/(1−0.5) = 600 K. Constant-pressure heating gives $q_{in}=c_p(T_3-T_2)$, so T₃ = 600+1000/1 = **1600.00 K**.
