GATE 2025 EE – Question 34
In the circuit with ideal devices, the power MOSFET is operated with a duty cycle of 0.4 in a switching cycle with $I=10$ A and $V=15$ V. The power delivered by the current source, in W, is ____________ (round off to the nearest integer).

Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: 90
Explanation
When the MOSFET is on it short-circuits the current source (0 V across it); when it is off the source current flows through the diode into the battery, so the source terminal voltage equals $V$. The average voltage across the current source is therefore $(1-D)V=0.6\times15=9$ V. The power delivered is $I\times9=10\times9=90$ W.
