A 6½-digit timer-counter is in time-period mode with range set to ns. It displays 1000000. With the same input, it is changed to frequency mode with range set to Hz. What number is displayed?
The measured period is $10^6$ ns = $10^6\times10^{-9}=10^{-3}$ s. Frequency is the reciprocal, $f=1/T=10^3$ Hz. Therefore the frequency display in Hz is 1000. Reading the ns unit or the number of zeros incorrectly would change the answer by orders of magnitude.
