A 10½-digit counter-timer in frequency mode with gate time $T_s=1$ s reads 1000 for a certain input. Without disconnecting it, switch to period mode in the μs range, with clock $f=1$ MHz. Its display is ______.

Correct answer: (D) 1000
Explanation
The frequency reading is 1000 pulses in a 1-s gate, so f=1000 Hz and T=1 ms. In period mode a 1-MHz clock supplies 1000 clock cycles in 1 ms. In the microsecond range the display is therefore **1000, D**.
