GATE 2010 CS (CS1) – Question 19
Digital Logic · Combinational Circuits · 1 mark · Multiple choice
The shown 4:1 multiplexer has select inputs P (MSB),Q (LSB). What is f?

- $\overline{P\oplus Q\oplus R}$
- $P\oplus Q\oplus R$
- $P+Q+R$
- $\overline{P+Q+R}$

Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: (B) $P\oplus Q\oplus R$
Explanation
For select 00 and 11, the selected input is R; for 01 and 10 it is R̄. Therefore XOR parity P⊕Q chooses whether to invert R. The output is P⊕Q⊕R, B.
