Correct answer: (C) 123456789

Explanation

The nine nonzero decimal digits sum to 45. Even the largest eight distinct digits sum only to 44, so at least nine digits are needed. Using digits one through nine in increasing order gives the smallest nine-digit number, 123456789. Introducing zero would require ten digits. Thus C.
