Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (B) Mitral regurgitation

Explanation

The described site is the cardiac apex/mitral listening area. Between S₁ and S₂ is systole. Mitral regurgitation produces a systolic murmur classically heard best at the apex, so B matches both location and timing. Mitral stenosis is chiefly diastolic, as is aortic regurgitation.
