Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (C) 97; (D) 64

Explanation

Three entries are perfect squares: 324=$18^2$, 441=$21^2$ and 64=$8^2$.

The remaining number 97 lies between $9^2=81$ and $10^2=100$ and is not a perfect square. Thus the odd entry under the square-number property is **97, C**. The official key also accepts **D (64)**; 64 is the only perfect cube in the set. Both C and D remain accepted as alternative single choices, reflecting the ambiguity of an unspecified “least fits” rule.
