GATE 2016 EE (EE2) – Question 6

General Aptitude · Quantitative Aptitude: Data Interpretation, Arithmetic and Number Computation · 2 marks · Numerical answer

The graph gives installed capacity and actual cement production, in tonnes, for nine plants. Utilization is actual production divided by capacity. A large plant has capacity at least 200 tonnes; others are small. Find large-plant production minus small-plant production, in tonnes.

Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: 120.0 to 120.0

Explanation

Classify using installed capacity, not actual production. Large plants are 1,4,8,9; their actual outputs total 160+190+230+190=770 tonnes.

Small plants 2,3,5,6,7 produce 150+160+120+100+120=650 tonnes. The required difference is **770−650=120 tonnes**.
