Fe–10 wt.% Ni and Fe–20 wt.% Cr–5 wt.% Ni plates are fusion welded with 20 wt.% Ni–80 wt.% Cr filler. Each plate supplies 20% of the weld pool. Find weld-pool Ni content in wt.%, rounded to an integer.

Correct answer: 15 to 15
Explanation
The remaining 60% comes from filler. Weight the nickel concentrations by these mass fractions: $C_{Ni}=0.2(10)+0.2(5)+0.6(20)=2+1+12=15$ wt.%. The chromium content does not change the nickel mass balance.
