Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (B) Both true, but [r] does not explain [a].

Explanation

The regenerative potential of appropriate plant cells reflects totipotency and can produce a whole plant under suitable culture conditions. The paper treats the comparative ease of plant transgenesis as true in its conventional biotechnology context, but that is not the biological reason for totipotency. Thus B. Practical transformation efficiency varies by species and method, so the broad comparison is the historical exam convention.
