Rectangle vertices are P(−4,−2),Q(−2,−3),R(−3,−5),S(−5,−4). Translate by+6 in x and+3 in y. Find the new vertices.

  1. P′(−10,−5),Q′(−8,−6),R′(−9,−8),S′(−11,−7)
  2. P′(2,1),Q′(4,0),R′(3,−2),S′(1,−1)
  3. P′(2,−5),Q′(4,−6),R′(3,−8),S′(1,−7)

Correct answer: (B) P′(2,1),Q′(4,0),R′(3,−2),S′(1,−1)

Explanation

Translation adds the same vector(6,3) to every point. Thus P′=(2,1),Q′=(4,0),R′=(3,−2),S′=(1,−1), which is B. Edge directions and lengths remain unchanged under translation.
