Explanation
Kuichling’s fire-demand formula is Q=3182√P litres/min, with P measured in thousands of people. Here P=175, giving Q=3182√175=42093.9034 litres/min, or 42093.90. Using 175000 directly would misinterpret the population unit in the empirical formula.
