Which of the following is CORRECT with respect to grammar and usage?

Mount Everest is ____________.

Correct answer: (A) the highest peak in the world

Explanation

A superlative like "highest" needs the article "the", which rules out B and C. "One of" must be followed by a plural noun, so D should say "peaks". Option A is correct because Mount Everest is a single peak, the highest of all.
