Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: (B) Electric discharge machining; (C) Laser beam machining; (D) Electron beam machining
Explanation
Check how each process removes material.
- **Electrochemical machining (ECM):** material is removed by anodic dissolution (an electrochemical reaction). There is no melting.
- **Electric discharge machining (EDM):** each spark heats a tiny spot above the melting and vaporisation point, so metal melts and is flushed away. ✓
- **Laser beam machining (LBM):** the focused beam melts and vaporises the metal. ✓
- **Electron beam machining (EBM):** the kinetic energy of the electrons becomes heat, which melts and vaporises the metal. ✓
So the processes involving melting are **EDM, LBM and EBM** (B, C, D).
