A 4 m propped cantilever has an internal hinge at its midpoint and carries 10 kN/m throughout. Find vertical reaction at fixed end X in kN (integer).

Correct answer: 30 to 30

Explanation

The right 2 m span is simply supported between the hinge and prop, so its reactions are 10 kN each. The left cantilever therefore carries its own 20 kN UDL plus the 10 kN downward hinge force. Vertical equilibrium gives **RX=30 kN** upward.
